.question.
how do people look at movies?
how can they say this movie is good?
how can they say that movie is bad?
how far can they know?
...i grew up in movies- morning re-runs, noon time-killers, late-afternoon back-to-backs, night main-events, midnight catch-ups. this, i give credit to hbo, star movies, star world, pinoy blockbuster, cinema one, studio 23, abs-cbn, vcd/dvd vendors, and torrent seeders. without them, i might not look at movies the way i do today. without them, i would not appreciate the pleasure of watching movies- and judging after. in movies, i usually take notice of cinematography, casting, story, and scoring. all in the right amount of genius (think shawshank redemption, gladiator, and the matrix trilogy). but i was wrong all along. some movies i love lack one or two of these elements but end up great (think leon the professional, gone in 60 seconds, the lake house, okuribito, and before sunrise duo). some even have just one of the elements great that they become boring and the impact hits you just after watching (think forrest gump, the godfather trilogy, secret lives of pippa lee, and silence of the lambs). then i realized movies are all about connections. a movie of whatever-genre has to connect two things simultaneously to viewers: emotions and story. if viewers can't connect to these, then all fails. a movie has to move y o u ! ! !
...and also, a love story can kill a would-have-been-good movie (think kingdom of heaven, youth without youth, and inception).
